one of the most magical places in all of the Disney parks is Walt Disney world’s magic kingdom and the reason the Magic kingdom is loved by so many is because of cinderella’s castle.
Here I will share some fun facts about Disney’s Cinderellas Castle.
This majestic structure is the centerpiece of the Disney theme parks, and it’s filled with secrets and surprises that guests can only discover by exploring, The front of the castle is one of the popular places for photo opportunities.
History of Cinderellas Castle.
The construction of Walt Disney World – Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom took around 18 months of construction and was completed in July 1971. and was ready for the grand opening of Magic Kingdom which first opened its doors on 1st October 1971. This castle is still relatively young by most standards and is thought to have real-life inspiration from Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany.
Cinderella’s Castle is 100 ft taller than Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland park California.
Hard to believe that the tallest structure in Disney World is not Cinderella’s castle as it is under 200 feet tall so it does not need flashing aircraft warning lights. The two taller attractions at Walt Disney World are also under 200 feet tall too. No-fly zone. There is now a flight restriction over the whole of Walt Disney World that was put in place by the FAA (Flight Aviation Authority)
The castle is surrounded by a moat that contains 3.37 million US gallons ( remember that UK gallons are bigger than us ones) however the drawbridge doesn’t rise unlike Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland California.
The castle has 27 towers, they are numbered 1-29, this is because tower number 13 & 17 were canceled before construction due to other buildings in fantasyland they couldn’t really be seen. Tower number 20 is the tallest one of all.
The castle has different proportions at various heights to create an effect that makes it look larger than its actual size, this makes us believe that it’s on a much grander scale than it really is. For example, windows and doors are smaller in height while stones are bigger when seen from higher up on the hillside where they’re situated
Set building trick called forced perspective sees elements such as bricks or mortar becoming thicker towards those places where people can most easily see them so the semblance becomes apparent even though you may not be able actually to go inside!
Construction of Cinderellas Castle.
There were no bricks made in the construction of the castle – Yes you read that right. The interior was made from 600 tons of steel. With a 10 inch thick reinforced concrete wall encircling the frame construction. Contrary to popular belief much less fiberglass is used. most of the outer exterior is a fiber-reinforced gypsum plaster that is supported by metal studs. The fiberglass was saved for the exterior walls of the upper ornate towers. The towers were lifted in by cranes and bolted in place.
This brings me to the next interesting fact – The castle isn’t dismantled in the event of a hurricane. It was built to withstand wind speeds up to 125 mph Florida is known for its Hurricane season and incremental weather.
Inside the castle.

Cinderella’s Royal Table
Cinderella Royal Table is a restaurant that is found inside the castle. The restaurant is found on the second floor and there is a sweeping staircase that takes you to it or an elevator. The restaurant is decorated with the most amazing stained glass windows ut also there are many regal objects in this restaurant. Disney (Walt’s brother), John Hench (who designed the castle), Diane Disney Miller (Walt’s daughter), Dick Nunis (former Chairman of Walt Disney Attractions), and Marty Sklar (an Imagineering vice chairman and principal creative executive).
