Hollywood Studio Galaxy’s Edge What You Need To Know.
Hollywood Studios Galaxy’s Edge What You Need To Know “In a Galaxy Far Far away!” Well Florida actually, Galaxy’s Edge is Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ most immersive and realistic lands.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is tucked into a corner of Hollywood Studio approx 14 acres.
It is quite literally a world within a world. A quite brilliant and fantastically Star Wars themed land; take a ride in the Millennium Falcon or join the resistance, you can even build your own Light Saber.
Let’s immerse ourselves in this brilliant area of Hollywood Studios known as Batuu. Here’s what you need to know.
Batuu’s Black Spire outpost is the largest village on the planet and has become a thriving destination for those who would rather go about their business unnoticed. However resent whispers and sightings of the resistance have drawn the attention of the First Order.
Dining Options.
Enter Oga’s Cantina where bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders, and travelers of all ages come together, enjoy music, and conduct meetings—no questions asked. With a menu of exotic concoctions for young ones and adults, the cantina is a welcome rest stop before your crew’s next galactic journey. Dining plan options are NOT available here.
Or another quick service restaurant is Docking Bay 7 food and cargo. Housed in a working hangar bay, choose from a variety of dishes prepared with ingredients from across the galaxy. Some dining plan options are available here.
If you want a light or quicker snack then try the Milk Stand and enjoy a Blue or Green Milk as seen in the Star Wars Movie. Or you could visit Ronto Roasters where a hanging Pod Racer engine heats up the spit of meats and a droid grills a Ronto a massive beast native to the planet Tatooine. Another quick bite is at Kat Saka’s Kettle where you can get a unique flavour of popcorn from Batuu. All of these food outlets have some dining plan options.
Shopping
As for shopping, well it is Disney, there is loads of merchandise to snag. Be prepared and choose a side; either Join the First Order at Docking Bay 9 where you can browse for products of the First Order or you could stock up on essential gear from the Resistance Supply stalls at a makeshift post near the ancient ruins. I suggest both, just to be on the safe side!
Other shops are Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities Jewellery, tools, crystals, collection of lightsabers and loads more to check out. Then there’s Black Spire Outfitters for all your Star Wars apparel and gear. You can peruse the Galaxy’s rarest species at the Creature Stall. There’s plenty of joyful souvenirs for your whole crew at Toydarian Toymaker.
Rides / Attractions.
Then there’s the real reason for coming to Galaxy’s Edge, the rides and experiences.
Ride in the famous cockpit of the Millennium Falcon on a daring flight—and whether you’re a pilot, engineer or gunner, every role is crucial. Jump into hyperspace and let the adventure begin.
In Rise of the Resistance you enter a massive attraction with multiple ride systems and it is truly unlike anything you have ever been on before. Just be aware that you will need to book this ride when you enter Hollywood Studios to get into a virtual queue system and if you are lucky (quick enough) then you will get a number and a time to ride! I know this is probably one of the most anticipated and busiest rides in Disney so please check out what to do before you go and don’t miss this one!
Enter Savi’s Workshop and assemble a Lightsaber, there are four different themes to choose from so there is something for everyone. However you will need to book this in advance and currently it costs $199.99 plus tax. It is also limited to one builder with one guest (the guest is only there to watch) so please bear that in mind. Also you may want to consider doing this as late in the day as possible for your visit as you don’t want to be carrying the Lightsaber around for the rest of the day!
If you don’t want a Lightsaber then maybe you would like to build a Droid at the Droid Depot. As with the Lightsaber workshop, you will need to book this in advance and currently it costs $99.99 plus tax. It is also limited to one builder with one guest (the guest is only there to watch) so please bear that in mind.
Coming to Galaxy’s Edge!!!
Coming in 2021 Disney is planning The Galactic Starcruiser Adventure, which is an immersive 2-night stay on The Halcyon Starcruiser, yes I did say 2 night stay! It looks absolutely fantastic and I for one cannot wait.
Please let me reiterate though; this is a really busy area and attractions do get full so please make sure you plan and book what you can ahead of time. Dining experiences, lightsaber, and droid building to name just a few some can and should be booked up to 180 days in advance.
Disney really has pulled out all the stops with Galaxy’s Edge and whether you are a Star Wars fan or not it really is an experience not to be missed.
Check out the lay of the land HERE before you go.
And while you are in Hollywood Studio why not hop over to Toy Story Land, check it out HERE.
