EPCOT- The Vision of the Future.
Walt had a vision and that vision was Epcot. Epcot was the second park to open in Walt Disney World, Florida.
Unfortunately Walt never saw this project finished and it was abandoned for several years.
Epcot is twice the size of Magic Kingdom apprx 300 acres. Epcot opened its doors 1st October 1982 & although Walt himself wasn’t there to see Epcot finished …. his dream lives on.
Epcot is dedicated to human achievement, technology, innovation, and international culture.
Epcot has two sections to it, Future World and World Showcase.
When Epcot originally opened its doors it was called…. Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow Centre. In 1994 the park was renamed EPCOT.
As you enter Epcot there is a dedication plaque…
To all who come to this place of joy, hope and friendship, welcome.
Epcot is inspired by Walt Disney’s creative vision. Here, human achievements are celebrated through imagination, wonders of enterprise and concepts of a future that promises new and exciting benefits for all.
May EPCOT Center entertain, inform and inspire and above all, may it instill a new sense of belief and pride in man’s ability to shape a world that offers hope to people everywhere.
E Cardon Walker, October 24 1982.
Entering Epcot you are greeted by a large sphere structure – some call it the golf ball. Inside this amazing sphere is an attraction. Spaceship Earth.

As I said earlier Epcot is divided into two sections Future World and World Showcase, Future World opens before World Showcase so as with all the parks you do need to plan. So make sure you check Disney’s Park Hours HERE as you enter Future World you can visit Future World East or Future World West.
Future World East – hosts Space Ship Earth & Test Track to host but a few.
Future World West – hosts Soarin & Living With the Land and some awesome restaurants including Garden Grill.
World Showcase – houses 11 pavilions each themed to represent a country. These pavilions surround World Showcase Lagoon. Some pavilions host rides, shows, entertainment & character meet and greets. The pavilions aim to highlight learning and living with people from different cultures.
Every night on World Showcase Lagoon, you can experience Illuminations -Reflections of Earth. These fireworks are amazing – My personal favorite and they are retiring these fireworks this year.
